Meditation is a practice that takes our mind & body into a relaxed yet focused state of awareness. It allows us to focus on ourselves instead of the outside world bringing a wonderful state of peace & stillness, giving us the opportunity to connect to our inner wisdom.

The meditation sessions I run are carried out seated and relaxation sessions have the added option of lying down if space allows. I recommend bringing a cushion and a blanket (particularly if lying down) as it's important to be warm and comfortable.
I teach and use a variety of meditation techniques including breathing exercises, mindfulness, guided meditations, silent meditation, crystals and more, giving people the opportunity to find out what suits them best.
No previous experience is necessary just a willingness to give it a go!
Being perimenopausal myself has led me to research the benefits of meditation to help with menopause. Meditation has been found to have a positive effect on menopause symptoms as it helps to balance our cortisol levels; reducing the stress response & and shifting the body into a calming state. This has been found to help provide relief for hot flushes, brain fog, anxiety, insomnia, mood swings. Meditation can also boost mood, improve concentration & memory, reduce blood pressure, ease pain and boost the immune system.
This has led me to create my own meditation group for people who are perimenopausal, menopausal or post menopause and those who are interested in finding out more.
Groups are run at my therapy space in St Agnes, the Garden Room Wednesday evenings 7.30-9pm. They are an opportunity for like minded people to get together, learn some useful skills and experience deep and restorative relaxation.

Regular meditation practice can reduce the inflammatory effects of stress on the body and reduce cortisol levels thereby having a positive effect on health conditions affected by stress including PTSD & Anxiety Disorders. As part of my training as a meditation teacher I have completed additional training in Meditation for Mental Health enabling me to create meditation programmes designed to help people to access meditation in a practical and manageable way to support their mental health.
